My travel journey started a bit later in life as I was very young when I had my children. The story goes a little something like this: By the age of 25, I was the mother of four under six. As a family, we relocated from Hertfordshire to South Yorkshire, bought our first house, and settled down. Life was good.

We started to plan our first family holiday abroad. If my memory serves me correctly, it was to Spain. Back then (early 2000s), the internet was pretty new and the best way to shop for holidays was through high street travel agents. Honestly, the excitement of picking up travel brochures with images of sun-soaked beaches and happy parents lazing by the pool while their children splashed around was second to none.

It was at this time that things started to go a bit ‘tits up,’ for want of a better phrase. My partner of 18 years left, and my world turned upside down. All of our future planning disappeared in a puff of smoke.

But then…

I met Darren, my now husband and my man of many firsts. He took me for my first restaurant meal, my first night club, my first football match, and many more first experiences. But the best of all was my first holiday abroad.

So here we are, addiction in full force.
